Did you know you can use your vacuum cleaner to reduce your power bill?
I’m sure you’d like to see your power bill as low as possible, but how could your vacuum cleaner possibly help with that? There are actually a couple of ways and it’s quite easy to do it yourself.
Appliances such as heat pumps, clothes dryers and electric heaters use fans to draw in air, and they always end up full of dust. That dust can clog the filters, cause the elements to overheat and destroy the fan motors.
Even worse, that accumulated dust can sometimes cause a fire.
The solution is simple. Get out the vacuum cleaner and clean the filters on your heat pump and clothes dryer. Be sure to check your owner’s manual and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to avoid damaging the appliance.
Cleaning out the dust helps your appliance run at maximum efficiency which saves you money on your power bill.
Your electric fan heater also needs a regular clean out, but that’s a job for an electrician as dismantling your heater will expose live electrical parts.
There is a small cost for getting it done, but in the long run you’ll save on expensive repairs, and avoid the problem of having your heater break down in the middle of winter.
