You’ll already be familiar with the traditional low voltage halogen downlight, there are millions of them installed across the country. Unfortunately low voltage does not mean low power consumption.
Over the last two or three years a lot of new led lamps have come on to the market and we have tested quite a few of them. Recently we found two products we are happy to recommend to our clients. They are compatible with most existing transformers and many existing dimmers and we have managed to secure some at quite a reasonable cost. The first lamp is a 10 watt cob single led lamp.
It’s physically larger than the tradition halogen lamp which means it won’t fit in all fittings but it gives a very good light, good colour, good beam spread a good light level which is important and they are reasonably priced. The second lamp has four separate leds and only consumes seven watts of power so they are the most economical to run.
They are compatible with a wider range of transformers and dimmers and as a result they are a little more expensive but with both of these lamps the savings are considerable. The lamps will pay for themselves in around nine to ten months and after that you will enjoy the benefits of eighty to eighty six percent lower running costs and that money goes straight into your pocket, to the bottom line.
