One of those solar sales companies that advertises heavily on local TV has recently been slapped with a large fine by the ACCC, for deceptive and misleading conduct. They falsely advertised their Chinese made solar panels as being “Made in Australia” and published fake testimonials in their advertising materials.
They recently phoned us to ask if we would like to do some installations for them. You can probably guess our response. “Thanks, but no thanks!”
Another national solar sales company, that also has ads everywhere, has been fined in two states for making misleading claims about the capacity and performance of their systems.
The good news is that not all national companies selling solar systems in Tasmania are dodgy. One company that we are very happy to recommend is Energy Aware.
We have completed many solar installations for them and always found them to be professional and ethical and they supply high quality panels and inverters including Trina and SMA brands. You can find them at energyaware.com.au
The moral of the story is to perhaps not believe everything you see on TV. Talk to a local contact who you feel you can trust. There are some good solar deals around, but if you want it to be a happy experience, make sure you are dealing with a reputable supplier and a quality installer.
If you’re wary about those TV offers and want some straight answers to your questions and solid facts on solar panels please give us a call on 6331 4711.
